Department of Finance Summer Intern

Job Description

Assist the GOA finance staff with day-to-day operations of the Finance office and work with management on financial and analytical assignments. The intern will work under the supervision of the Controller and must follow the accounting or auditing process.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with Financial projects
    • Special projects, e.g., W-9/1099s – verify all vendor status, scan and organize W-9s
    • Collect, understand, process, verify and report accounting related-information
    • Analytical work involving account updates/analysis/reconciliations
    • Manage specialized information, reports, tracking of projects
    • Help create/format procedural narratives, and other similar tasks
  • Assist with the Finance Office operations
    • Organizing, filing, and labeling files and paper documents
    • Scanning and creating forms and documents as needed
    • Miscellaneous tasks

Skills and Specifications

  • Expertise in numbers and good math skills are important
  • Must have knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis
  • Must have good organizational skills; Other skills required are related to problem solving, entering and verifying data, knowledge of computers, various software applications and standard office equipment
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills
  • Must maintain professionalism at all times
  • Education and Qualifications
  • Finance interns are expected to be students of business administration, management or want to become CPAs.

Benefits

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese is offering a Summer Internship Program for 2024. The program is for 8 weeks from June 3 to August 2. This internship program is being funded by a Leadership 100 Grant. The grant provides:

  • Stipend of $4,800.00 ($600.00 per week) 
  • Travel expense $25.00 per week for each intern
The intern will work in the NYC office Monday through Friday's from 9am to 5pm. There will be a 30-minute meal period. This internship is part of Co-Hort group that will also work on a company project together. This group will provide a presentation to the Senior Leaders during the last week of the intern program.
