Department of Religious Education Summer Intern

The mission of the Department of Religious Education (DRE) is to connect people to Christ, His Church, and His grace. The Director of the DRE is His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, PhD.

The Department of Religious Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented college student to join the team for a summer internship for 8 weeks from June 3, 2024, to August 2, 2024. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in religious education while supporting various projects and initiatives within the department. In addition, you will be a part of the intern cohort group that will work on a company project and make a presentation to Senior Leaders during the last week of the program.

The position is located at the New York City office. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5pm. A 30-minute meal period is provided. Send resume and cover letter that includes what accomplishments you would like to achieve to by participating in this program to: resumes@goarch.org.

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Orthodox Marketplace, the official online store of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America:
    • Inventory management, logistical support, and assist in customer service.
  • Assisting with Religious Education:
    • Assist in organizing and maintaining religious education materials.
    • Assist in research and development tasks as needed.
  • Editing Documents Related to Theology and Religious Education:
    • Review and edit documents, including but not limited to theological writings, educational materials, and content.
    • Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in written materials.
  • Assisting with new or ongoing initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Must be a currently enrolled college student, preferably in the Boston or New York area. Remote work anywhere in America can be discussed.
  • Attentive to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision while also collaborating within a team environment with staff from across North America.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and implement feedback in a timely manner.
  • Customer service experience is a bonus.
  • Writing, editing, and a good understanding of the Greek Orthodox faith and theology.

Benefits:

  • $600.00 per week (total of $4,800.00)
  • Travel expenses are $25.00 per week
